Building a Brand-New Internet

The internet wasn't built for the world we live in. It's time to redesign it from scratch.

The internet we rely on today was never designed for the world we live in. When its core architecture was created, the goal was openness and connectivity – not security, identity, or resilience. As a result, many of the biggest problems we face today – cybercrime, misinformation, identity theft, massive fraud, and fragile digital infrastructure – are not simply bugs in the system. They are consequences of how the internet itself was designed.

For decades we have tried to fix these problems by adding layers of security on top of a fundamentally insecure foundation. But what if the real solution is not to keep patching the internet – but to redesign it?

In this keynote, Menny Barzilay explores how emerging technologies such as AI, decentralized identity, cryptographic infrastructure, and new trust architectures could enable the creation of a new generation of the internet – one built from the ground up with security, trust, and resilience at its core.
